This article focuses on the book "Chaos in Mexico," by Charles S. Macfarland. The book is an invaluable and indispensable source document for those who require guidance amid the passionately asserted and interminable complications that beset one's path in a serious effort to arrive at a reasonably solid and practical basis for personal and independent judgment of the church question in Mexico. But the writer's judicial and temperate attitude does not prevent him from making the unequivocal statement in his conclusions that the state is suppressing religious liberty.
