The article presents information on several documentary films. The most recent Soviet importation, "Twenty-six Commissars," is a good example of the new type of documentary film to which the Russian cinema has turned since the reconstruction of the revolutionary period. "Samarang" might also be described as a documentary film, but in the tradition of "Nanook of the North," "Tabu," and other attempts to recreate the mores and living conditions of remote places on the earth's surface.
