Tokyo distinctly leads other cities of the world in the number of universities it possesses. There are more than twenty universities in Tokyo and at least half of them can compare favorably with any large university of the world in the number of students enrolled. This unparalleled centralization of higher education does not mean that the rest of Japan is poorly furnished with institution of higher learning. Japan also leads the world in the number of universities in the country. The evil of the spread of higher education, is many sided and clearly definable, while its good effects are hard to define accurately and concretely. There are four distinct evils, the grind of examination, the unemployment of graduates, student strikes, student Marxism.
