The article discusses the growing fascism in Mexico. Defense attorney for the ten Gallup miners accused of the murder of Sheriff Carmichael on April 4, was addressing his final plea for acquittal to twelve farmer jurors in the antiquated little red brick courthouse of Aztec. The eight hundred souls in the farming village of Aztec showed a surprising indifference to the trial. The visitors' section of the court, seating only eighty-five, was half empty until the last few days, when high-school students were excused from classes so that they might attend the proceedings.
