An educational theory of any genuine value must take shape in a certain type of school organization and procedure, and if this proves to be at odds with currently esteemed practices, the conflict is not to be regarded as simply a difference of, opinion or as an example of the inevitable gap between theory and practice. Either the social program and the educational procedure must be logically consistent, or one or both must be revised. Such a program, it need hardly be said, is not a matter of the whim of the individual philosopher either.
