In this article, the author focuses on the book "Bones of Contention," by Frank O'Connor. The author says that It is too bad that O'Connor's books are not better known in this country, because they illustrate qualities likely to be forgotten in a period like the present. ft is not only their humor, or their peculiar variety of humor, but also qualities of sympathy and detachment. The comic pattern demands objectivity, and the technical success of these stories arises out of the strict adherence to dialogue and situation.
