The article focuses on Maine, which is not in the labor union strike. Maine's secession from the Union was emphasized in the recent shoe strike conducted by the Committee for Industrial Organization (CIO) in Lewiston and Auburn Six strike leaders, together with their attorney, were jailed because they thought they had the protection of the Wagner Act. The shoe manufacturers should refuse to have any conferences with any federal official or with any other outsider. The Lewiston Sun opened a barrage calling on the manufacturers to have nothing to do with the CIO.
