The article presents the author's experience in three states of the U.S. where he visited. At the entrance of almost every town the tourist is greeted with a welcome sign, the name of the town, the population, and the speed limit. In Colorado, the author was greeted by a cowboy with a southern accent who was glad to see a New York car, because he was born and raised in Brooklyn and it was his home town for thirty years. In the State of Kansas men sit on the curb for hours and just look. In Elk City, Oklahoma, while the author was waiting to meet Dr. Shadid, of the Community Hospital, a youngster led his granddad in.
