What Does the Younger Generation Think?

Today's generation was born into an expanding world. It took it for granted that everything had a natural tendency to get bigger if not better, and when they thought about the fact at all they felt a certain scorn for this crude, uncritical growth. Every year there were more doctors, lawyers, and teachers than the year before. They knew, therefore, that they had only to be very moderately competent to find some sort of place for themselves, and the last thing they feared was a world which would have no use for such talents as they happen to possess. Most of them are, moreover, still enjoying the results of the good fortune of their generation.
