The article presents information on the economic development of Soviet Union. The author on his recent Soviet visit found that everywhere there is change and progress; nowhere stagnation or retrogression. More construction is going on today than in the pioneer upbuilding period of the first Five-Year Plan. Moreover, innumerable industrial units whose foundations were laid in that period or in 1933 or 1934 are beginning to produce. The most significant change in the cities is the greatly improved management of industrial units. Smooth plant operation is now common, whereas a year or two ago it was the exception.
