This article describes the correspondence between Professor Gaetano Salvemini of Harvard and the Graduate Club of Italian Studies at Columbia University. On November 21, 1934, the periodical "The Nation" on the basis of a letter written by Professor Salvemini has charged the club of fascist control in the Italian Department of the University. Three and a half weeks after writing this letter, the Graduate Club dispatched an invitation to him to speak at a joint meeting, the week of January 5-11, 1935, on the subject Italian Nationalism from 1870 to the World War. However, Professor Salvemini, in reply, has laid down certain pre-conditions for attending the meeting.
