This article focuses on political and economic issues around the world. Senator Edward P. Costigan of Colorado has introduced an anti-lynching bill in the U.S. Senate. Though there has been a decrease in the number of lynchings, the necessity for this measure is greater than ever because of the failure of the Department of Justice to move in the case of Claude Neal who was lynched on October 26, 1934 at Florida. Events rather than desires have forced Prime Minister R. B. Bennett of Canada to agree to negotiate a reciprocity treaty with the U.S. at the same time that the British are preparing a festive effort to consolidate the empire.
