The article focuses on two books. "The American Jitters," by Edmund Wilson; "Toward Soviet America," by William Z. Foster. The early chapters are the orthodox Marxian gospel, in the application of which to recent economic history in America Foster is not always quite fair or strictly accurate. Communists have a habit of fixing their eyes on the target, regarding with indifference, not to say contempt, the ammunition used. But the concluding chapters give a brief, frank, and understandable exposition of the program of the Communist Party in America which has long been needed.
