There is an extraordinary unity of opinion among the workers both in and out of the labor unions. Correspondents who have traveled with the U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt in this campaign and who traveled with him four years ago are unanimous in saying that the greetings given to the President in the mining areas of West Virginia and Pennsylvania go farther than any they have ever witnessed in enthusiasm and apparently genuine personal devotion. The workers have come to feel that he is their champion, their friend and that the New Deal, whatever its faults, was meant to help them as no other government has ever sought to help them.
