The article presents an overview of the January 1, 1938 issue of "The Nation." The new moves to grapple with the monopoly problem with are implicit in U.S. President's Franklin D. Roosevelt's message to U.S. Congress may be seen from two angles. Most of the discussion has been centered on the immediate politics of these moves, with the President again getting the worst of it so far as the newspapers are concerned. If the turn in policy were limited to trust-busting slogans and the attempt to fix the blame for the recession, one should agree with much of the criticism of it.
