The article discusses books and authors. The hypersensitive personality so clearly revealed in Josephine W. Johnson's novels finds a place in "Year's End," a book of poems perhaps a better medium for expression. These are not great poems, but they are interesting-largely because of their almost neurotic intensity. Relying not on the fine line, not on the extraordinary image, not, certainly, on music, but almost wholly on the uniqueness of her feeling about life and social injustice, Johnson is an original if not a finished poet. The two poems entitled "The Mortal Companion" are almost first-rate.
