The article discusses the arms race and American quest for world peace. Could anything be more idiotic than the present armament race? If it were not carried on by alleged statesmen, it would be properly characterized as worthy only of morons. It is all of a piece with the horrible incompetence and stupidity which plunged the world, especially the United States, into the Great War. One is staggered and then horrified that such vital decisions, resulting in the death of 50,000 Americans and the wounding of 250000 others, should have been in the hands of men so utterly incompetent.
