The article discusses the locals of the sleepy town of Komionka, in Poland. The author wonders Jewish elders of Komionka are still waiting a reply from him. He had been there one cold spring morning by horse and cart from Skidel, which is a one-minute stop on the Warsaw-Wilno line, and came to visit grandparents he had never seen. The locals told him they were the third American couple to set foot in the village in the last fifty years. Two lonely, rutted roads in the heart of Poland cross, and where they cross, that is Komionka. The roofs are thatched in Komionka; the ovens are of whitewashed brick.
