The article discusses the book "The Future of the German Empire. Criticisms and Postulates," by General von Seeckt and authorized translation by Oakley Williams. The book is written in the first instance for a German audience. It is equipped with a special foreword intended to "promote some understanding in England of the conditions under which Germany is living and struggling today." There is not much, apparently, that von Seeckt would not like to see changed. Germany should become, as far as possible, self-supporting in food and manufactured goods and to that end may properly adopt a protective tariff policy, but only until protection is no longer needed. According to him, some state socialism will have to be tolerated, but the protection of religion should not bind the state to the support of the church.
