The article focuses on the grave situation of unemployment in the U.S. One may recognize an apple seller on the streets of New York as an unemployed man without laying oneself open to the charge of lese majeste. Even the issuing of cheer-up statements by political leaders and business executives in the hope of changing the psychology of the situation has become less common. At last there is evident a healthy disposition to face the facts. Such a disposition may possibly lead to the framing of an intelligent policy to prevent the recurrence of unemployment.
