This article focuses on the book "The Philosophy of Santayana. Selections From the Works of George Santayana," edited by Irwin Edman. These selections, giving a quite complete exposition of the structural elements of George Santayana's philosophy, will help reveal to the critical student why, not only for psychological reasons which relate a philosophy to a personality but for purely intellectual ones, the work of this master leaves one so profoundly dissatisfied. A full elucidation of the grounds of dissatisfaction the reader cannot undertake, but he can sketch the main headings which would guide such a statement.
