This article focuses on the book "The Right to Heresy. Catellio Against Calvin," by Stefan Zweig. The future leader of Protestant Europe John Calvin was born in 1509, eight years before civil rights leader Martin Luther nailed his theses to the door at Wittenberg. Although educated at the orthodox college of Montaigu, he espoused Protestant views and was obliged to flee from France to Switzerland. He stopped at Easel, a favorite refuge for persecuted scholars and theologians and from this safe point surveyed the situation.
