Will New York Go for Roosevelt?

New York's forty-seven electoral votes will go to U.S. Presidential candidate Franklin D. Roosevelt as something of a bonus, for he could win without them. Republican candidate Alfred Mossman Landon, on the other hand, has never had a chance unless he might somehow corral New York. The Republicans will go on calling New York a "doubtful" state until November 3, 1936, in order to keep up their courage and to keep the campaign contributions flowing in. If they once admitted that Roosevelt had an edge on his home state's large block of votes, their campaign would collapse, for the big campaign contributors, mostly from New York or with dose New York connections, have a canny objection to throwing cash on the ash heap.
