Executive Frank E. Gannett, who publishes newspapers in New York State and makes speeches wherever two or more persons show a tendency to listen, has become something more than a public nuisance. Gannett is chairman of the National Committee to Uphold Constitutional Government. Gannett was convicted of having conspired to defraud the U.S. by making false statements to the Alien Property Custodian for the purpose of concealing the fact that the money which purchased the New York newspaper, Evening Mail came from a fiscal agent for the imperial German government.
