This article presents excerpts from the book "History of the Peloponnesian War," by Thucydides, which deals with the tenth year of the war followed by the interval of "insecure peace." The author describes that, these excerpts are condensed from the Jowett translation and remains as it was written by the historian with the exception of a few deletions and the substitution of the Czechs for the Melians, the Nazis for the Athenians, and the British for the Lacedaernornans. Thucydides was an Athenian historian who has explored issues related to the war during 416 B.C.
