The article presents information on events which were published in the periodical "The Nation." The overthrow of the existing protection to silver-mining is the necessary first step in coming to close quarters with William McKinley and his abominations. The New Chinese-Exclusion Law reported by Congressman Kathy McCleary, and passed on Monday almost unanimously, makes some approach to humanity and decency, as may be inferred from the fact that Congressman Thomas J. Geary of California opposed it. Count Taaffe's bill to extend the suffrage in Austria may be said to be one of the results of the successful struggle for universal suffrage in Belgium last spring.
