The article presents information on various news on politics and government. American newspapermen who have been interned in Germany and are now being repatriated have cabled from Lisbon much detailed information of conditions in the Third Reich as it braces itself for a supreme effort to conquer Russia. Even in Italy, where conditions are far more desperate and where the whole population is deeply conscious of the fact that Italy has lost the war no matter what its outcome, there is no sign of general revolt, according to returning correspondents. News from the Burma front is still confused. But although the Chinese continue to hold up the Japanese advance in certain sectors, it is evident that the enemy has succeeded in consolidating his hold over the greater part of the country as well as over most of the strategic centers on the Chinese side of the border.
