The article presents information on several political developments from across the world. Apologists for Charles Linderbergh will find it difficult to dismiss his Chicago speech as an innocent transatlantic flier in universal peace. And if the Nazis are as smart as one thinks they are they will recognize it as the perfect "line" for the U.S. U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt's one effective weapon for forcing action out of defense industries now hemming and hawing over taxes and amortization allowances is being taken from him. The navy "speed-up" bill as passed on June 22, 1940 contained a provision authorizing the Secretary of the Navy to commandeer any plant necessary for the national defense.
