What the circulation of the blood is to the human organism the transportation system is to a modern state. In the degree that the transportation system deteriorates, industry and the food supply must also deteriorate. The relationship is one of cause and effect. Now the deterioration of German transportation, more precisely, of transportation in the vital industrial areas of western Germany, is proceeding inexorably; fortunately, information of no uncertain character. Switzerland is a neutral country, but in a sense it is a dependency of the German transportation system. Authentic news about the condition of the German railroads that lead to Switzerland is received there daily and hourly. And for several weeks the Swiss press has been reporting a very high degree of disorganization.
