This article presents information about the book "The Court Wits of the Restoration," by John Harold Wilson. There are good books on men of wit but his book is the first attempt to define treat the group, to define its limits, explain its origins, describe its traditions and illustrate its manners. Mr. Wilson has dug long and hard and he has, among other things, succeeded here and there in throwing some new light on old scandals. His book is for scholars, not for the old-fashioned amateurs of "court memoirs," but it achieves its purpose admirably.
