This article focuses on the possibility of Democratic Party winning the governor's election in Tennessee. Aside from the drift away from the Democrats, three factors are at work in Tennessee that can only add to their troubles. The first is the exhaustion of the Democratic campaign treasury. The second hurdle for the Democrats to overcome is the increased aggressiveness of the States' Right Party. The strength of the Dixiecrats in this election campaign is greatly enhanced by their strategy of working closely, if unofficially, with the Republicans all along the line. They are offering no senatorial candidate of their own but one has only to listen to the speeches of B. Carroll Reece to know what is going on.
