This article presents information on several books. Some of the books being discussed in this article are: "The Walls Came Tumbling Down," by Mary White Ovington; "All Manner of Men," by Malcolm Ross; "To be Free," by Herbert Aptheker and "From Slavery to Freedom," by John Hope Franklin. Franklin, a professor at Howard university, has given a history of the Negro Americans in his book. The book begins with a reconstruction of Africa from where the first slaves came, showing that although it might not have had the same kind of culture as Europe, it had none the less a culture which was too far advanced to be termed primitive, and that the country was neither economically nor politically naive.
