The article discusses American politics. In its haste to adjourn, U.S. Congress made amends for some of its worst blunders. Under pressure from the U.S. House, the U.S. Senate abandoned its rider on the war-agency appropriation bills that would have required appointments of government employees receiving U.S. $4,500 or more a year to be confirmed by the Senate. By the narrow margin of a single vote, the U.S. Senate finally passed the House bill expanding the borrowing power of the Commodity Credit Corporation until December 31, 1943 with no restriction against the use of subsidies for rolling bath prices
