Hollywood Gray List

It has always been difficult to take Hollywood seriously and an observer of the scene today can scarcely believe that the familiar surface gaiety conceals currents of real fear. Fear of the black lists, which comprises of anti-fascists is strong, but a more widespread and probably better-founded fear is that of the gray list, which is the list of those political offenders who are on probation. Every relationship in the industry is affected by people's awareness of the gray list. No one is sure where he stands or whom he can trust. A social boycott reinforces the graylisting of workers in Hollywood.
