This article presents views of President of the UN Assembly, Foreign Minister of Australia Herbert V. Evatt, regarding the authority of UN as the supreme arbiter of the question of peace or war. The president of the Assembly, Foreign Minister Evatt of Australia, has shown that he does not hold his post to carry out the policies of the great powers. His duty, he believes, is to serve the United Nations and to see that it is not destroyed by the very governments which brought it into being at San Francisco. He proved this very clearly at a session of the Assembly, when he addressed his impressive appeal from the Palais Chaillot to the four occupying powers, exhorting them to come to an agreement on Germany and put an end to the dangerous situation in Berlin.
