The article presents information on various socio-political developments. Father Charles Owen Rice, who conducts a column called The Condition of Labor in the Pittsburgh Catholic, turned his attention to the case of Bryn Hovde, who would surely have been president of Queens College by now if Mayor O' Dwyer hadn't made the a gaffe of intervening under pressure. "Hovde is a splendid fellow," wrote the Pittsburgh priest. In another development, Earl Browder, a communist, considers the November elections "a defeat for the American war party and a mandate for peace."
