The article presents information on the book "The letters of Marcel Proust," translated and edited with notes, by Mina Curtiss. Proust's letters were not written for publication, and it is not his fault if only the last ones in this collection are interesting. Even these contribute very little to an understanding of his novel. In spite of the author's repeated protestations that the narrator of "A la Recherche du Temps Perdu" is not himself, it is a complete autobiography, and so very explicit, especially in the last volumes, as to be almost redundant.
