The article presents information on "Garrick," by Margaret Barton. The contemporaries of David Garrick believed him not only the best actor who had ever lived but almost the inventor of any art of acting worthy of the name. According to the author, the present volume is, the first serious attempt in more than forty years to tell his story in reasonably complete form. The most striking general fact about Garrick is simply that he is a supreme example of a man who had one talent, who discovered it early, and who cultivated it with the relentless single-mindedness of one not interested in anything else.
