The article presents information on various books. Some of the books are "Robert Louis Stevenson," by Lettice Cooper, "George Eliot," by Joan Bennett, "Samuel Butler," by G.D.H. Cole. The books are certainly small and decidedly useful. Each volume compresses an inclusive survey of the life and work of a major literary figure into one hundred clear and simple pages. Joan Bennett's "George Eliot" is a critical biography of George Eliot. In the first half of her book Bennett considers George Eliot's intellectual and emotional developments. Throughout there is a wealth of insight and finish that will make it one of the finest books of the year.
