This article focuses on international developments in political field. The maneuvers concerning Palestine continue in Israel. There has been an attempt to use sanctions against Israel in order to force its troops to withdraw from positions taken after the Egyptians attacked in the Negve. The long-impending battle of steel has been joined in Britain with publication of the government's bill for nationalization of the industry. This will prove the hardest fight Labor Party has yet faced in putting through the socialization program for which it scored a mandate in 1945. The campaign to suppress civil liberties in the U.S. has met a check in another skirmish.
