This article presents information on various music performances held in the U.S. "Christmas Oratorio," by German composer Johann Sebastian Bach was performed by musician Robert Shaw. It was similar to his other large choral works in the fact that some of it was deeply affecting but much of it was not. What was unimpressive was the solo arias and many of the extended choral sections. In addition to a few of those choral sections, was the chorales; and most affecting were the passages of joint recitative-of solo voice and chorus, or, if remember correctly, of several solo voices.
