The article presents information on the book "The Blue Flower: Best Stories of the Romantics," edited by Hermann Kesten. Does some large or small prose "masterpiece" of the romantic period exist that has never received its due, shut up in the thorny language of some smaller European country-say, Poland or Hungary? This question often crosses the mind of the person interested in the literature of the romantic period. Hermaxrn Kesten, by gathering together forty-five stories from thirteen countries, including the U.S., has helped to answer it. He has arranged his material sensibly-chronologically according to country, so that people can see at a glance where the selection came from and when it was written.
