It is difficult for an American, used to free discussion of all sides of a question, to imagine Europe's intellectual isolation. Radios in every home and loud speakers in every public place tell just one story. The newspapers repeat it. At the present moment it is the story of Axis solidarity versus United Nations disunity. On assuming that one is a Little Man in Europe. One work in a factory under the eye of the Gestapo. When one gets home at night desperately tired and one don't get much to eat. One blames the condition on the Nazis, and one's only hope lies with the United Nations. But day after day one have drummed the story of United Nations disunity, imperialism, greed. The United Nations have little to say about their post-war plans because those plans are still hazy. It is false to assume that the Nazis tell nothing but lies.
