The article discusses the political conditions prevailing in the U.S. By the time Congress convenes, the U.S. Republican Party will have to decide once and for all whether its future lies in New Dealism cautiously administered or in the U.S. President William McKinley fundamentalism trumpeted loudly and without inhibition. As long as the former U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt was alive, the party chiefs could attribute their periodic drubbings to his crafty charms and his alleged generosity with the public purse, but now they have only each other to blame and they are doing it with a zest that promises much liveliness in the weeks ahead.
