In this article, the author presents his opinion on impact of wage increases on prices in the U.S. Any rise in wages greater than necessary to offset the rise in prices is unjustifiable and dangerous. The upward climb of profits, while certainly gratifying to corporations and their stockholders, has also its embarrassing aspects. True profits are being grossly exaggerated for large numbers of business enterprises by two factors. First, altogether inadequate provision is being made for the cost of replacement of fixed assets. Secondly, higher unit prices which boost the value of year-end inventories temporarily inflate profits.
