The article focuses on two books "Gaum and Its People," by Laura Thompson; "Henry the Navigator," by Elaine Sanceau. This new and up-to-date edition of Thompson's standard work on Guam, its history, culture, institutions, and current problems, is most timely. As readers of scholar John Collier's recent article in, The Nation will remember, the future of Guam now lies on knees of Congress, which is called upon to decide whether its inhabitants are to be allowed self-government or are to remain under naval dictatorship.
