The article focuses on the book "Tomorrow's Food," by James Rorty and N. Philip Norman. Why in a land of plenty is there widespread malnutrition? Why in a world full of scientific knowledge regarding nutrition is there starvation? Why should millions of people be forced to subsist on the equivalent of 1,500 calories a days or less, not to speak of inadequate variety and choice of food? These and other matters are discussed by Rorty and Norman in their book, which, though it is some what repetitious, is full of interesting material and they come to the sensible conclusion that a good deal of poverty and malnutrition would disappear with more-much more-and wiser government control.
