This article focuses on the effect of economic condition on purchasing power of people in France. The bulk of the French people are convinced that under present economic conditions the only way to raise the purchasing power of wages, salaries, and other forms of income is by progressively lowering prices. They are equally convinced that the reduction inaugurated by governmental decree cannot be carried beyond a certain point unless there is an increase in output. This twofold conviction is at the very core of our people's thinking. Their present discontent does not mean that they are deceived or doubtful about the situation.
