The article discusses the prospects of whether a divided Palestine would be equal to supplying the needs of present day European Jewish life. Belgium with an area of only 11,780 square miles supports a population of 8,159,185. Holland, with an area of 13,202 square miles, supports a population of 8,061,571. In the United States, Massachusetts, with an area of 8,266 square miles, supports a population of 4,313,000; New Jersey, with an area of 8,224 square miles, 4,193,000. "There can be little doubt," said the Anglo-American Committee, "that, given some central direction, more cooperative effort, and a peaceful political administration, Palestine can be made to provide further opportunities for prospective settlement, concurrently with an improvement in the living standards of its present population."
