The article focuses on the condition of children in European countries, particularly Italy. It is said that tomorrow's Europe will be built by the children of today. Conditions under which children are now living in the devastated countries of the war-torn continent do not augur a too happy future. The war has done a thorough job of disrupting civilian life; the children have been its most tragic victims. In Italy hundreds of thousands of children were caught in the backwash of war. Italian children are seen wandering about everywhere, on roads and in cities and fields. The Italian government has attempted to register them and the Allied Military Government, the Control Commission and the Vatican have also tried to do something about them.
